How are you preserving your digital images?

Statistics show:

  • 100% of hard drives will fail
  • CD's & DVD's can maintain data for tens of years at the most - recent study by OSTA (Optical Storage Technology Association)

In response to this Microform Imaging Ltd is proud to announce its collaboration with Micrographics Data PTE of Singapore to become the sole agent and distributor for the AW-1 Series Colour & Black and White 16mm & 35mm archival writer. Microform Imaging, in line with its contract services, will also be offering the ability to process a client's digital images to film.

The AW-1 Series Microfilm Archive Writer is a hybrid technology which provides a long term archival solution -in excess of 500 years - to a variety of applications and market sectors. The AW-1 converts digital files of various formats to an analogue image using standard 16mm and 35mm colour and black and white film. The AW-1 has simple yet effective imaging software that produces first generation negative and positive film without any special processing equipment.

If you are currently scanning large numbers of historical documents or capturing digital photographs of artefacts in your collections then, because of the known problems of the long-term preservation of electronic files, you may wish to benefit from this product or service. Once the backup film has been processed we are then able to store the film safely, securely and in line with BS1153.
