 16mm Filming
This popular and inexpensive medium is ideal for those situations where large quantities of back file archive documents have to be retained and document scanning would be overkill (due to documents not being 'live' anymore).
Around 2500 A4 pages can be converted to a single 100 foot roll of microfilm and the space saving is approximately 96%. The images are viewed on inexpensive Readers or if an image print-out is needed then Reader/Printers are used.
More automated retrieval can be obtained by the use of Frame Blips and sequential numbering. Used in conjunction with a reader utilising a Computer Aided Retrieval system, whereby frame numbers can be keyed in and the system will count the images until it finds the one specified. This is useful when consecutively numbered documents i.e. Sales Invoices, have been microfilmed.
Your 16mm microfilm can also be inserted into 5 lane Jackets, with each jacket containing 60 images and these have an eye legible title showing the contents of the jacket. | | | |
